Phone HolderThe Phone Holder is where we design our own phone holder on SketchUp. I made mine so the phone can fit in the holder and it will stay up. The sides of the phone holder go up so the phone won't fall out of the holder. This phone holder is not meant for a specific phone so many different types of phones can fit in it. It will fit any phone from 3 inches wide to 5 inches and 3/4 of an inch tall. It is very colorful so it will look great in any office or desk. To order yours, contact Kali on the home page. They are only 5 cents. It was used with the push/pull tool, square tool, rotate tool, erase tool, and more tools. One problem I had with the phone holder was thinking of a design and how to make it. After many tries, I finally settled on this one where the phone would stay in the holder.
Stacked Building BlocksStacked Building Blocks was made by SketchUp by creating rectangles to the side and front, and making sure they are equally spaced. Then, hold don command on the move tool to copy them to however high you want the building to be so right now they are 2 sides. Next, double the design you already have so you can put it across from the other one and it is like a building. After that you intersect the faces of model and cut the top and bottom part of the blocks so they fit into each other. Finally, color each block. One problem I had with this design was cutting the top and bottom part of the block and making them fit into each other. When I tried to make them fit into each other, they either went too far over the other blocks, or not far enough so I had to just leave them a little apart.
Beach BallThe Beach Ball was part of the Patterns On Spheres design on SketchUp for extra credit where we made a flat circle in the ground, and a flat circle at 180 degrees. Then, using the follow me tool you make it into a sphere, with the flat circle on the ground a little bigger so it sticks out of the sphere. Next, you copy the flat circle that is now in the center of the sphere 12 times around the square and use the rotate tool to rotate it 45 degrees.. Finally, you color each part of the sphere. One problem I had with the beach ball was making the sphere. It was hard to make one circle flat on the ground and I couldn't figure out how to do the other one facing up so I could make the sphere.
Wired BoxesWired Boxes was made on SketchUp by creating 10 cubes and cutting off the little corner where they connect with other cubes. Then you use the arc tool and connect all the cubes from the top, and then the sides after making circles on the sides. Next you use the follow me tool to bring the arcs up, Finally, you color the boxes and the arcs. One problem I had with this design was figuring out which side to cut the edge off of because it didn't show very well when I intersected the faces. After doing all the edges and closing the components, I finally figure out which edge to cut off based on the one before.
Square Things RoundSquare Things Round was made on SketchUp by making 9 squares and putting them together and then cutting out the edges so they fit together. Then you use a tool to draw a shape inside the square with the edges cut off and copy it so it keeps going on and on. Next you color every other space black in a component so it goes with every square, and finally you close the component and color each individual square another color for the rest of the spaces. One problem I had when making this shape was making the lines inside the square because I didn't know which tool to use so then when I found it it was hard to use.
Striped BowlStriped Bowl was made from SketchUp by making four squares that connected to each other by the corner and then using the circle tool to make semi circles over them. Then you use the follow me tool to push up the sides and rotate it so the sides of the bowl are slanted a bit. Next you put lines in the bowl and divide it by 9 so there are 9 lines in the bowl. Finally, you color each part of the bowl and it is complete. One problem I had when making this shape was creating the lines and making sure they were evenly spaced so I could fit 9 lines. It was hard to make the bottom line and the top be evenly space with all the other lines.
Round ThingsRound Things was made from SketchUp by creating a cylinder with a circle tool and push-pulling it up. Then creating the rings with the arc tool and using the follow me tool to make them go around the cylinder. Then you resize the rings using the scale tool so it gets smaller as you go up. Finally, the Round Things is colored and complete. One challenge I had with making round things was making the bottom of the toy because it was really confusing and I kept on messing up with making it larger than the bottom ring.
